Our History:
Vijayawada, India
It is estimated that roughly 30,000 children live on the streets of Vijayawada, driven there by poverty or hardship at home. These children survive through begging, rag-picking, and informal labor, often without access to education, healthcare, or the protection of a stable adult. The risks fall hardest on the youngest and on girls, who are far more vulnerable to exploitation and trafficking . Without intervention, a child on the street faces a cycle of deprivation that is extraordinarily difficult to break, even into adulthood. Through your compassion, we can provide these vulnerable youth with the safe housing, education, and nurturing care they deserve. Together, we are building a path of hope and a brighter future for the next generation.

Amma Vodi Orphanage – Vijayawada, India
Founded in 1997 by Mrs. Nanda Kiranmayi, affectionately known as “Amma,” Amma Vodi was established as a safe haven for poor, abandoned, and at-risk children. What began with just four children has grown into a loving home that has welcomed more than 1,200 children over the years.
Today, over 50 children live at Amma Vodi. Many were rescued from life on the streets, bus stations, and railway platforms, while others were abandoned due to extreme poverty and family hardship.
At Amma Vodi, every child finds a safe, nurturing home where they are cared for by dedicated volunteer “moms” and raised in a loving Christian environment that provides hope, stability, and a brighter future.

Sri Lathis
Sri Lathis came to Amma Vodi in 1999 as a young child in need of a loving home. Through the care, support, and educational opportunities provided by the orphanage, she was able to pursue her dreams. Today, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and has a family of her own.

Sri Priya lived at Amma Vodi from 1999 to 2015, where she received the love, care, and support needed to build a bright future. Today, she is happily married and the proud mother of two beautiful daughters. Her journey reflects the lasting impact of a safe and nurturing home.

Manikanta faced many hardships from a young age. With the loving care he received through Amma Vodi, he was able to continue his education and grow up in a safe environment. Today, he is a Senior Technician at a hospital, serving others and building a bright future.
